«Hay que pasar el invierno». La frase, perteneciente y acuñada por un flamante ministro de economía, Alvaro Alsogaray, durante su discurso en Canal 7 a fines de junio de 1959, ha servido para marcar y resumir la innumerable invocaciones al esfuerzo colectivo de nuestra sociedad desde ese año hasta la actualidad.

Y en esta oportunidad no es la excepción. La tan temida segunda ola ya está entre nosotros y comienza a golpear fuertemente, con aumento exponencial de casos y contagios. Habrá que pasar una época de angustia, dramatismo e incertidumbre. Entendiendo que debemos aplicar lo aprendido con solidaridad y responsabilidad. Vivir sin horizonte, navegando en aguas turbulentas sin saber dónde queda la orilla sigue siendo el desafío fundamental para todo el planeta.

Estas tres semanas de restricciones, llegan en medio de un hartazgo social y un cansancio abrumadores. Pero además debemos atravesarlas con factores preponderantes, originales respecto a la cuarentena del año pasado: la hiperpolarización por la campaña electoral.

Gestionar la pandemia de coronavirus obliga a decisiones y gestos de grandeza en procura de obtener el bien común, de garantizar el acceso a la salud pública para mitigar los efectos del virus. La responsabilidad institucional con la prédica del ejemplo recae en nuestros dirigentes, especialmente entre quienes forman parte del gobierno. Y aquí debemos detenernos para enfatizar que, absolutamente toda la clase política debe estar a la altura de las circunstancias. Fue responsable la oposición en firmar un comunicado conjunto con críticas a las restricciones que aún no habían sido oficializadas con la adhesión de mandatarios que ya las estaban aplicando, como en Corrientes o Mendoza? No era mejor esperar a -por lo menos- saber en qué consistían? El mundo barrabrava se introdujo en la política con llamamientos a resistir las medidas, en un tono no demasiado saludable creemos. Y la respuesta del presidente? Fuera de eje, a los gritos y calificando de «imbéciles» a los que criticaban posiblemente fuera de tiempo.

El invierno se avecina crudo, con vacunas en cuentagotas y un escenario de indudable escepticismo. La campaña metió la cola en la disputa cansadora de una grieta que sólo separa más y agigante las diferencias. No todo es una tribuna de fútbol. No todo es el rédito político y la mezquindad. Una sociedad, un país, es testigo de un espectáculo de desolación, qué sólo agrava el descreimiento y la falta de confianza en quienes, claramente, juegan su propio partido.
